A client told me last week that he had no idea I used to box. We’ve known each other for years. I realized he doesn’t truly know me and maybe you don’t either.
I write about capital raising and in all that time I never told you why: why this newsletter, why start my firm, why you might take interest in my insights. Giddy up - time to share my why(s).
Take it back to how I grew up
From the Midwest and anything but sporty. Overachiever for sure, but likely not what you’d expect: first-chair flautist in the marching band, played the harp and piano, once at Carnegie Hall, but mostly for every choir at Newark Senior High School. Student council president, check! Student body president, check! Spoke at commencement, check! But also cut from the cheerleading squad. I worked at SoFro Fabrics because I knew how to sew ( fun fact: I won the golden thimble award, but that pales in comparison to the blue ribbon I won at the Hartford County 4-H Fair). I wasn’t unpopular (double negative for effect) but my superpower was knowing how to hone skills solo for hours on end, all by myself.
